Seule la congrégation bénédictine de Chezal-Benoît, qui ajoute aux institutions communes un projet réformateur, parvient à accueillir durablement Saint-Alyre à partir du début du XVIe siècle.; Saint-Alyre, nearby abbey of the episcopal city of Clermont in Auvergne, remains an autonomous monastery during a long time, and belongs to no congregation.
